Case Study

London Sinfonietta

A pioneering contemporary classical ensemble, exploring new music since 1968. We designed a bespoke website and built an AI-ready WordPress platform that brings their brand to life and helps their work get discovered in the age of AI search.

What We Did

Bespoke Web Design and an AI-Ready WordPress Build

We delivered a fully bespoke web design and rebuilt the platform on a custom WordPress and ACF block stack.

The brief was twofold. Create a site with the visual confidence of one of the world’s leading new-music ensembles, and engineer it for how audiences actually find concerts today, increasingly through AI assistants and answer engines rather than search results alone.

We combined full-screen imagery, a looping brand pattern and lightweight HTML and CSS motion to set the tone, then built every template as reusable blocks the in-house team can manage without touching code.

The Problem

London Sinfonietta’s artistic reputation had outgrown its old Drupal website. The platform was ageing, the brand felt flat on screen, and the content was not structured in a way that modern search and AI tools could read and recommend.

They needed more than a redesign. They needed a fast, future-ready platform that could carry a distinctive brand and stand up to the next decade of how people discover live music.

The Solution

A brand that adapts to its context. The boldest part of the design was a living identity. The dotted London Sinfonietta logo and colour system shift by section, so the live-performance space reads differently from the explore-and-listen space. Getting a multi-colour logo to recolour cleanly across every template, without harming legibility or load speed, took real design-system discipline.

Atmosphere without the weight. Large full-screen photography, a subtle motion pattern and considered animation give the site presence, while pages stay lightweight and quick to load.

A platform built for the AI era. Speed and machine-readability were design decisions, not afterthoughts. Pages are kept lean, and structured data is baked into every event, person and article. That schema helps the ensemble surface in AI-generated answers and voice search through our GEO and Answer Engine approach, not just the traditional listings.

Built to run in-house. The custom ACF block architecture means the marketing team can publish concerts, news and the new 26/27 season, including the Jonny Greenwood and Steve Reich programme, entirely themselves.

The Result

A live, fast, fully bespoke site that finally matches the ambition of the music. The platform is engineered for discovery, easy for the client to run, and ready to grow.

This is an ongoing partnership, and a welcome return to musical work for us, following projects with Radiohead, Paul McCartney and the Royal Academy of Music.

“Very excited to be live! We are delighted with the outcome. And Miles - you've been great, thanks to you and your team for all the hard work getting the site live. “
