WordPress maintenance and support in London
Our WordPress site maintenance service keeps your website updated, secure, fast and backed up every month. Every update is tested on a copy of your site before it goes live. We start with a free audit, sort the quick wins first, then look after the site properly from there. We support London businesses and clients right across the UK.
Most sites don't need a rebuild. They need looking after.
The thing is, most of our best clients didn’t come to us for a new website. They came because the one they had wasn’t working. And whoever was supporting it had stopped paying attention.
What we’re seeing, time and again:
- 40 or more plugins, many doing jobs a line of code could do, all slowing the site down
- Updates skipped for months, so the site’s running plugins that are out of date or on security watch lists
- Page builders like Elementor that have turned every page into a slightly different design
- Tracking running before consent, with Google Analytics, Hotjar or Clarity firing before anyone clicks “accept”
- Business details that don’t match across the site and online directories, which confuses customers and the AI tools that could be recommending you
Not all problems are easy to solve. But all problems are solvable. We’ve been working on WordPress sites since 2003, almost as long as WordPress has been around.
What's included in our WordPress maintenance service
Updates, done safely
We update WordPress core, your theme and your plugins [FREQUENCY, e.g. every month]. Updates can break things, so we never do them straight on your live site:
- Back up the live site.
- Run the updates on a development copy and test everything.
- If it all works, push the updates live.
- Keep the backup, so we can roll back straight away if anything unexpected happens.
Security monitoring
- Daily malware scans and firewall monitoring
- Checks that every plugin is safe and off current vulnerability watch lists
- Strong passwords enforced, and admin access kept to a minimum
- Hacked site recovery if the worst happens
We set most sites up with two admin accounts: one on our side and one in your business. Admin access is only used when it’s needed. If someone gets hit by a bus, you still have full control of a business-critical system.
Hosting and backups
WordPress runs best on WordPress-specific hosting. We look for nightly backups, fast rollbacks, and a quick way to copy your live site to a staging site for testing. If you’d rather stay where you are, we’ll work with your existing host and tell you honestly if it’s holding you back.
Speed and plugin clean-up
We remove the plugins you don’t need, replace heavy ones with lighter code, and get your pages loading well within Google’s Core Web Vitals. Those are the speed and stability standards Google uses to judge page experience. A fast site works for people, for search engines, and for the AI tools that crawl your pages.
Compliance
We make sure no tracking fires before a visitor gives consent, as UK privacy law requires. If you’d rather not have a consent banner at all, we can set up cookie-free analytics such as Plausible, which reports on fully anonymised data.
Small UX fixes that make a big difference
UX (user experience) is how easy your site is to use. Often the biggest wins are small:
- moving key content higher up the page
- making an important button stand out
- cutting the main navigation down to five items or fewer
None of this breaks the bank.
Consistent information, on the site and off it
We make sure your business name, address and phone number match everywhere they appear online. Where they don’t, a local citation campaign puts it right. We also check that your site describes your services the same way on every page. It sounds like housekeeping. Basically, it’s how AI tools decide whether to trust you.
How a takeover works
Switching support provider is less painful than people expect. Here’s what it looks like in practice:
- Free audit. We look at plugins, updates, hosting, security, speed, tracking and consistency, and find the quick wins. You get a plain-English list of what we’d fix and in what order.
- Safe handover. We take a full backup and set up a staging copy. Nothing changes on your live site until it’s been tested.
- Quick wins first. Security and out-of-date plugins come first, then speed, then compliance. The changes that take the least time and have the biggest impact.
- Ongoing care. Monthly updates, monitoring and support, plus a short report on what we’ve done.
Bigger jobs, such as moving a site off Elementor, get planned in properly rather than rushed. Bit tricky, and not something to do in week one.

What proper support looks like: Headmasters
Headmasters is a salon group with more than 50 salons. When they came to us, their WordPress site had so many plugins it barely functioned. More than 40 of them.
The first job was the plugins. Within the first few months we’d got them down to fewer than 10. Pages that had been taking 15 or 16 seconds to load came in well within Google’s Core Web Vitals.
Once that was sorted, we turned our attention to local search across all their locations. Eight years on, we’re still working together.
Quick example that might help: when we took over South Coast Powersports’ site, we didn’t rebuild it. We put the right structure around the content. Within six months they had more than 100 high-intent searches ranking.
WordPress maintenance FAQs
Regular updates to WordPress core, themes and plugins, tested on a copy of your site before going live. It also covers security monitoring, nightly backups, speed checks and support when something goes wrong. Our plans add development time, UX improvements and local SEO on top.
Security updates should go on as soon as they’re released and tested. Everything else should be updated at least monthly. The reality is that sites left for months are the ones that get hacked or break when someone finally updates them.
Yes. Most of our support clients came to us that way. We start with a free audit, take a full backup, and fix the quick wins first. You don’t need a new website to get proper support.
They can, which is why we never update a live site directly. We test every update on a development copy first and keep a backup of the live site. If something unexpected happens, we roll back straight away.
Yes. We’ll clean the site, close the hole the attackers used, and put monitoring in place so it doesn’t happen again.
No. We’re a London agency, but we support WordPress sites for businesses across the UK.
Yes. We can make Elementor sites faster and more consistent in the short term. If it’s holding you back long term, we’ll plan a proper move off it with you.
Our care plans start from £[X] a month. The audit is free, so you’ll know exactly what’s needed before you commit.
Key takeaway: your website probably doesn’t need replacing. It needs proper maintenance and support, with the foundations sorted first.
