C:Pesa - A Net-Zero Opportunity

Case Study

C:Pesa

Web design & development for a Net-zero initiative.

Net-Zero Initiative Web Design & Development

Businesses in the Global South face numerous challenges in accessing clean energy trading platforms and trading International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-RECs). Limited infrastructure is a significant barrier, as many regions lack robust digital networks and energy systems needed to integrate renewable sources and participate in trading platforms.

Financial constraints are another major hurdle. The high initial costs of establishing renewable energy systems, coupled with limited access to financing, often prevent smaller businesses from entering the market. Many global platforms favour large-scale players and impose requirements that are difficult for smaller businesses in the Global South to meet. Language and technical barriers further compound these difficulties.

To overcome these challenges, there is a need for stronger infrastructure, targeted capacity building, inclusive platform designs, and supportive policy frameworks. This is where C:Pesa steps in, with their innovative platform. Enabling businesses of all sizes in the global south access to trading markets that have historically been a monopolised by more developed nations.

C:Pesa approached LWDA in late 2022, requiring the design & development of a launch site that would assist the team with presentations at global conferences such as COP28. We were extremely happy to be considered as a partner on this exciting project and proceeded to join the C:Pesa team in a series of workshops and discussions to find out more about the business and their requirements.

Project Objectives

The language of the clean energy sector can be complex for the uninitiated, but the message in this case was clear. It’s about helping solar and wind asset owners in the Global South transition to a fairer net-zero opportunity. C:Pesa needed time to work through their exact offering and how to convey it effectively, but once the legalities had been settled, the race was on to launch a small brochure site in time for COP28.

We originally discussed a multi-page multi-section site that would hold a vast array of content, but in the end, we settled on the ever-popular single-page website solution. This was partly due to a narrowing timeline, but we also felt that the simplicity of the one-page website would benefit the user, by clearly communicating the Who, What, Why & Where of the company, the products and services on offer.

In future, the website will expand to include a blog (articles and insights related to the clean energy section, plus case studies and other supporting content. But for now, simplicity was key.

Ultimately, the main objective was to encourage enquiries from the two main user types. Those in the Global South who produce clean energy and would like to trade it, and those interested in purchasing DIGIRECs.

The Results

Working through a series of design sprints, we collaborated with C:Pesa on both the design and messaging of the website, allowing them to form a better picture of what the final site needed to look like and the content it needed to hold.

Once C:Pesa had provided a final draft of the content, we were able to formulate a structure for the single-page solution, splitting the content into easily digestible sections.

With the wireframe completed, we were able to apply the design, which was informed by the brand identity supplied by C:Pesa.

CTAs were positioned strategically throughout the user journey to encourage enquiries, delivered via online form which was integrated with their CRM.

It’s early days for C:Pesa, but the initial signs are positive in terms of growth and interest.

We hope to build a long-lasting relationship with this disruptor brand and see it grow from strength to strength throughout 2025 and beyond.

Digirec Management Dashboard

DIGIREC™ Dashboard Front-end Design & Build

Alongside the website, C:Pesa was also launching their user platform. A dashboard that allows plant owners the ability to monitor energy production and automate the conversion of electricity production data to DIGIRECs™ for trading.

C:Pesa partnered with Microsoft on the platform, who were tasked with creating the backend, and the functionality required to facilitate the collection of data, conversion to DIGIRECs™, and trade between partners. They just didn’t have a front-end design.

Our team of talented developers stepped in to produce a series of responsive front-end template designs that Microsoft could use as a style guide for the platform.

You can see the results of our work with C:Pesa here. We look forward to adding more content to the website over time and helping them build a solid foundation for future business growth.
