One-page websites have become more popular In recent years due to their low cost and great user experience. A good reason for this is that touch-screens and scrolling mice make it easier to scroll than click.

We are firm believers in developing a website over time, and a one-page website makes the perfect starting point.

Website on a budget

If you are an entrepreneur or a small business with a limited budget, a one-page website solution could be the perfect starting point for your online presence.

We often refer to this approach as an MVP (minimum viable product), which enables companies and brands to get to market quickly. This can be essential in a fast-moving marketplace.

The key to this approach is to convey your services & products in a concise way with very little text. This makes it easy for your customers to scan through your content and make the crucial decision to contact you or make a purchase. Whichever is the more desirable action.

One-page website examples

A great example of a budget one-page is our new website for De Havilland Gin. An artisan London dry gin launched by entrepreneur Hiru Bathija.

De Havilland Gin eventually expanded to include eCommerce functionality through the use of WooCommerce.

Some of our other clients that started with a single-page website have gone on to expand their business and so their website now reflects this, with either a blog, new service pages or eCommerce.

Bells & whistles

Just because your website only features one page does not mean that it should be boring.

Users love dynamic elements on one-page websites such as type animations, parallax effects, and content that slides into view or fades in from nothing.

Adding some subtle animations and transitions will give your website personality. Lifting your brand above those that are more static in their approach to online marketing.

Beyond the one page website

After launching your one-page website, you will be able to use tools such as Google Analytics and Hotjar (use it free for one page!) to learn how your visitors are using your site, where they are coming from, and – from direct feedback – what they want to see added to your site in the future.

This data and feedback will enable you to make better decisions about how to spend your future web budget. What new pages you should add and what functionality should be included to improve UX and conversions.

Popular additions to one-page websites include sections for news (blog), recipes (for the food & beverage industry), and eCommerce functionality for brands that wish to sell multiple products online.

Third-party integrations

Today’s web is full of great 3rd party integrations such as booking platforms, ticket purchasing widgets, and full eCommerce solutions. These tools make it easy to add new functionality to your website.

Some examples:

All it takes for us to help you expand your one-page website is a little time to integrate the tools you need and style them so they align with your brand.

In Conclusion

One-page websites are very much in vogue right now. They offer a budget-friendly solution to launching your brand online and can be deployed quickly.

If you believe this type of solution is right for your company, be mindful not to overload your website with too much information. Users do not like to read too much on-screen, so keep things light and easy to digest.
